Share laptop content by simply connecting a VGA cable from your laptop to the LifeSize Room. No additional equipment needed (expensive option on most competitor's equipment).

The high-fidelity conference phone, included with the LifeSize Room system, doubles as the video conferencing microphone. You only have one set of wires on your conference table, and you can use the telephone keypad to enter IDSN or IP numbers and initiate video conference calls.

No "Static Macro Blocks"

Unlike the systems by some other video conferencing companies, most notably Tandberg, LifeSize systems were designed for high-definition video, with processing power to handle full-motion HD signals at 1280x720 resolution at 30 frames per second.

Tandberg MXP systems have to resort to use of "static macro blocks" to get high-definition resolution. Polycom's literature points out "Tandberg is claiming HD but is not delivering 720p (or even 480p) with the Edge product line. Edge is old, inferior architecture (3000 MXP) with a new name." Codian also documents this, see http://www.codian.com/support/viewfaqentry.php?id=117&topic=&product=MCU%204200

Systems using Static Macro Blocks depend on blocks of pixels not changing in the video. If you move your arm to pick up your cup of coffee, the equipment might not have the bandwidth and processing power to maintain full 30 fps motion, so the picture quality drops.

LifeSize never uses them to get high definition, even when zooming or panning the camera.

Excellent Price for High Definition

The price of a LifeSize High Definition system is almost identical to the price of a Polycom VSX7000 system (standard definition) bundled with Polycom's VTX1000 conference phone.
